People who have died, because the family lost their member of the family; who lost their homes, because now they don’t have any home and they don’t have their supplies to survive; Government, because the citizens have died and many people are suffering in the capital city, so the government need to do something to improve the country; Rescuers, because they need to rescue people and let the water out so people can go out from temples and schools.

1. What new information has emerged?

Cho Seung-hui,23, from South Korea killed 32 students and teachers in Virginia Tech University, on Monday. There were two attacks and it was when the students asleep and during the classes. First shooting was at 7:15 am. At least 15 people got injured during their escape

2. What did you find interesting about this topic?

It is interesting, because I couldn’t belive that the South Korean person did this things. I’m south Korean too and it is a bit embrrassing for me. Also how did he got the guns? Why did he kill people with no reason? That’s the only questions I could think of right now. He killed so many people. I so sorry for killed students’ famillies, because they died with no reason.

3. What did you like about the initial blog posting?

Saeri put her answers for her questions very detailed,  her pictures are very clearly. I like the way Saeri explained what happened and other stuff, because she explained it very pecific.

 Part I

Famous Egyptians Speech

Mut

Do you know who the mother of all living things is? It is me, the goddess Mut. As the queen of all goddess, I was originated in the Nile Delta. I symbolized cobras, lioness and royal crowns. As I mentioned, I am the mother of all living things. So that is why I am important and very responsible.

I’ll tell simple facts about myself. I am the mother of all living things. I had no parents, I was created from nothing, I couldn’t have any children so I adopted instead. I was replaced with Amaunet, Amun’s wife, because I was more type of mother goddess. I was depicted as female with vulture wings, holding ankh, wearing united crown of Upper and Lower Egypt. Now you know simple facts about me I’ll go more detail to tell myself.

I’m very important and special because, I represent the Eye of Ra. I was loved at one of most popular festival called ‘The Festival of Mut’. My fame started during New Kingdom. My helipolis said that I changed the god of the sky into a cow. Clearly these facts describe my significance.

Last but not least, it is about the impact. I was a local goddess from near delta, but I became national goddess during New Kingdom in 1500 B.C.E. Khonsu and I formed the Theban triad. My offerings from people are stones, metals, beef, sweet, heady perfumes, and ostrich feathers, but I never offer rams. All in all, now you know all about my impacts.

All living things have a mother, and that is me. I am very responsible, understanding, and generous goddess. I care for all living things just like a mother caring for her baby. To sum up, I give kindness to everyone with love.

Part II

Famous Egyptians Reflection

In class, we presented our presentation about our pharohs or goddess. I learned many things. I learned that some pharohs or goddess have a family tree that relates others for famous goddess or pharohs. I learned some details about goddesss’ powers and their history. I learned that the goddess of underground had two sons. One of the sons worked next to his father and other son became the pharoh. That was the most interestintg fact I heard, because I thought goddess couldn’t have any children. Also one of the pharoh had more than 10 wives and more than 100 childeren.

if you were to do the assignment again I would prepare for the presentation more, because when I did the presentation, I talked very nervousely so I mummbled alot. If I practice for the presentation more, I would be more confident.

What did you learn from this task?

I learned how to put pictures in wiki and I learned how to go to www.cooltext.com and download titles into the wiki.

Did you find this difficult or easy? Why?

It was easy, because I did wiki before and editing and loading pictures in different subjects. The subjects are orchestra and science. So I know how to use the wikispaces on my own. After I did the wiki for my African Kingdom, now, it is easy for me to do anything in wikispace.

What would you change about the process you went through to complete the wiki if you were to do the assignment again?

I would find more information and put it in my wiki in bullet points so the wiki would not look blank and I also want to put more pictures, so people will see and understand what I was talking about.

  • In class we had to respond the groups’ wikispaces for African Kingdom. My group’s kingdom was Ghana and my group members were Johan and Kevin.·

what would you change about the final product (the wiki you created) if you were to do the assignment again?

If I did the assignment again I would change some pictures, because I think some of the pictures were blurry, and I don’t know whom, but somebody put a picture in my wiki without asking me. So I can’t find the link to the picture. Also I would have put more information, because somebody took some of my recording sheets, so I couldn’t put much information as many as possible.

  • Look at some of the other wikis from any class and find a few that you think are done exceptionally well. Tell me the name of the empire and the block, and then explain what you like about their wiki.

I like the Block D- Ancient Zimbabwe, because the home page was really welcoming and I could understand all the information they say. Also they got some great pictures to show. There are citations on everything.I like Block H- Mali, because they information was detailed; they got many cool pictures to see. They put the maps and ancient things too. I especially like the titles from cool text.

Social Studies Reflection about the Presentation

After the presentation I learned about Africa. For my presentation I did The Kingdom of Gold.

These are the things that I learned about The Kingdom of Gold.

For Indigenous Religion, I learned that Ghana people believed in one god who created the world and lesser gods roles over daily life. Also I learned that believed disaster could be avoided by pleasing gods with prayer and rituals.

For sources of Ghanas Unity, I learned that the kings powers were absolute that it brought everyone together. Large, powerful army and nobles forced kings decisions. Peasants donated a division of their harvest so tat city dwellers could focus exclusively on their trade.

For Sources of Ghanas Strength (800~1500), Iron weapons allowed Ghanas large army to defeat neighboring areas. They controlled trans- Saharan gold and salt trade.

For Islam, accepted for Muslims but Kombi divided between Muslims and Soninke. Most government executive and merchants were Soninke changes.

For Trans- Saharan Trade, I learned that North Africans brought salt to trade for gold. Wangarans brought gold to trade for salt. Ghana used geographic location and military power to tax all traders.

These are the things that I learned about Iron Technologys Impact on West Africa.

For Before the Discovery of Iron, I learned that Africans, they made spears arrows, and other weapons without made out of iron, they hunt for food, farm, and others. They dug and found irons.

For The Nok Use Iron Technology After 500 B.C. The steps are, first, they dig and find iron, they break into many pieces. Second, Irons are melted by fire. Third, beat the iron and make the shape and stick it to a stick.

For Iron Brings Revolutionary Changes, I learned that after they made things out of iron, they used it for hunting and farming. For farming, they have too much food, they trade things for wealth and the food population increased.

For Early Trade Centers Develop, they used Niger River as their highway to trade. They traded iron, copper, and stones. The traders brought gold between780 B.C~ 880 B.C.

These are the things that I learned about The Kingdom of Mali Under Mansa Musa

For The Fight for Control of Mali: Mandinke vs. Soso, Mardinke was a tribe. It was ruled controlled. The ruler was Sudianta. Soso wanted to rule Mardinke. The ruler Soso and ruler Sudianta fought. Sudianta had stronger power than Soso, so Sudianta won.

For Mali at Its Height, Mali was twice as big as Ghana. For Mansa Musas Pilgrimage, they brought tons of gold to put Mali in the map to be known.

For Impact of Pilgrimage on Mali, the map makers included Mali in the map. Mali was generous that they made school and taught them. He went around and got ideas.

These are the things that I learned about How the Songhai Empire Grew to Greatness.

For Songhai Gains Independence from Mali, Mali was independence by help from Ali Sunni Ali and Sukayman. The Malian soon fades out.

For The Empire under Askia Muhammad, they asked help from two princess for independence.

For Songhai Empire at Its Height, they had a strong government.

These are the things that I learned about The conquest of Songhai by Morocco

For Al-Mansur: Sultan of Morocco, they believed thought hell be stronger if he take over the salt mine in Taghaza. He decided to attack.

For Seizure of the Salt mines at Taghaza, 1586, the salt begin to offence by sending 200 musketeers to rule the salt mines. For Moroccan Attack on Gao, Send 4000 soldiers to attack, but half of them got killed to take over the salt mines.

For Effects of the Conquest on West Africa, political unity in Ghana, was destroyed. Then the salt and gold got stopped and wasted (stop trading). Morocco ruled the Songhai.
